Environmental Programs:

Report A Smoking Vehicle 

Help your fellow driver avoid costly repairs. Report vehicles with smoking tailpipes to Mecklenburg County Air Quality. You will breathe easier.

Swat A Litterbug

A way for you to help educate people who litter from their vehicles.

PLANT Program

Piedmont Landscape And Naturescape Training - promotes wise and sustainable management of natural resources through responsible stewardship

Business Recycling

To reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfills, Mecklenburg County adopted an ordinance that makes it mandatory to recycle office paper and corrugated cardboard generated by businesses. 

Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy 

An eleven-week program designed to provide residents of Mecklenburg and surrounding counties an opportunity to receive first-hand information about how the Sheriff's Office works.

Adopt A Stream

A "hands-on" way for residents and local businesses to get involved in improving the water quality of our local streams.

Environmental Education Programs

Park and Rec offers educational programs for Pre-K through 12th grade students in public, private, and home schools as well as scout troops, youth groups, and other organized groups.

Internet Safety for Children

A series of games and tips to teach children safe and responsible ways to use the internet and learn about protecting privacy and security online.

A homework resource and web companion only for individual use by students and/or library holders of a brarydog/PLCMC library card.

Park ad Rec Volunteer Program

Enables volunteers to make a significant impact on the quality of life in our community.  The purpose of the program is to improve our parks and greenways and expand the recreation horizons of the youths, adults and persons with specialized needs within our community.

Birthday Parties at Ray's Splash Planet

Rentals are available for birthday parties, corporate outings and any other special occasions.

Scout Projects at Park and Rec

Volunteer opportunities for Boy Scouts looking for a Life or Eagle service projects or a Girl Scouts looking for a Silver or Gold service projects

Therapeutic Programs at Park and Rec

Displaced Homemakers

Anyone who has been out of the workplace or underemployed, depended on another income, lost her/his means of support, and needs to become self-sufficient. Single moms, divorcees, widows, and separated persons usually fit into this category.
