Recycle It! Program Improvements Include:
New Recyclable Items
With the improved Recycle It! Program, you'll be able to recycle more items. In addition to the materials currently accepted in the recycling program, the City will begin accepting aerosol cans and all plastics except No. 6 in the recycling carts.
The following items will be accepted in the improved Recycle It! Program:
- Aerosol cans NEW!
- Aluminum
- Cardboard
- Glass
- Paper
- Plastics 1-5 & 7 NEW!
- Spiral paper cans
- Steel cans
Want to know if a plastic is recyclable? Check out the Recycle It! Resources below to view a full list of common household recyclable plastics and their corresponding recycling number.
Reminder: According to state law, plastic numbers 1 and 2 and aluminum should always be recycled and never discarded in the garbage.
New Recycling Cart
This spring, you will receive a new, City-issued 96-gallon wheeled cart to collect recyclables. This cart will replace the current 16-gallon red bin.
If you prefer not to have a 96-gallon recycling cart, please call 311 or click NO RECYCLING CART to submit a request and ensure one isn't delivered to your home.
If a recycling cart has already been delivered to your home but you prefer not to use it, please call 311 to request pick up of the cart or click CART PICKUP-RECY to submit an online request.
New Collection Schedule
Recyclables will be collected every-other-week beginning in July. Recyclables will still be collected on the same weekday as garbage and yard waste; however, the day of collection for garbage, recyclables and yard waste will change for many residents. Residents will receive information regarding service changes by mail in the spring.
